Two neighbouring countries, Nepal and China, enhanced their long-established partnership at a recent business programme held in Lhasa. This programme was held in Lhasa, which is the capital of China’s Xizang Autonomous Region. Many entrepreneurs, business owners, and investors came together to join this promotional program. The main goal of this event was to explore some new and possible opportunities for good collaboration between two close nations.
This event was organised by the Consulate General of Nepal in Lhasa. It is mainly focused on Nepal’s growing appeal as an investment destination, alongside restating the close diplomatic and economic ties shared by the two countries. Another main aim for this professional assembly is to ensure stronger business connections between China and Nepal, such as refining the cross-border infrastructure and also making grassroots interactions between people of the two countries.
A Platform for Economic Cooperation
Around 113 participants took part in the event, where many topics were discussed, particularly about investment and promoting trade. Some of the attendees in the list include Zhao Peng, Executive Vice Chairman of the People’s Government of the Xizang Autonomous Region, Chinese traders involved in bilateral commerce, experienced chinese government officials, nepali investors and entreprenuers living in Lhasa. Other people involved in the program were mainly from tourism operators.
The business gathering was organised by Nepal’s Consul General in Lhasa, Laxmi Prasad Niroula. Consul General Sabin Bhattarai was also present in the event, where he gave a wonderful presentation on Nepal’s wide opportunities in trade, tourism, and investment.
To showcase Nepal’s economic potential, a promotional video was screened during the program. The video clearly displayed things about large natural resources, an expanding tourism industry, hydropower potential, and growing investment-friendly policies.
The event was definitely a worthy one as it worked as a platform for connecting Chinese investors in Nepal’s emerging business sectors. It also supported making stronger economic partnerships between the two countries.
Nepal’s Growing Investment Potential
Nepal, although a landlocked country, has shown great potential as an attractive destination for foreign investment in recent years. In the event, the representatives from Nepal showcased opportunities across several sectors in the country. These sectors included Hydropower and renewable energy, Infrastructure development, Tourism and hospitality, Agriculture and agro-processing, Cross-border trade and logistics and many others.
It targeted chinese investors to gain knowledge about these sectors and see Nepal as one of the best options as a country for long-term invest ment destination.
China Reiterate Support for Nepal
As stated by the Consulate General’s press release, Chief Guest Zhao Peng complimented the Nepal Consulate General for being active in balancing the mutual relations between China and Nepal. He formally presented Nepal as one of China’s trusted friends. He even stated that both countries have regularly respected each other’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence.
Peng announced the Xizang Autonomous Regional Government’s strong dedication to supporting the Nepali Consulate General in carrying out its responsibilities and facilitating closer cooperation.
Peng, who has recently visited Nepal, expressed confidence that high-level exchanges had further strengthened bilateral ties. Furthermore, he inspired Chinese investors and businesspeople to visit and explore Nepal. He has described Nepal as a beautiful and peaceful country of South asia and is highly welcoming to Chinese visitors and investors.
His statement substantiated China’s continued interest in growing economic engagement with Nepal, particularly through investment, tourism, and cross-border commerce.
